Cedar-Planked Halibut Tacos with Citrus Slaw

Ingredients

  • 1 cedar grilling plank (soaked for 1 hour)
  • 1.5 lbs. halibut fillets
  • 12 8" tortillas
  • 3/4 tsp. salt, divided
  • 2 cups Chinese cabbage (shredded Napa)
  • 1 cup salad greens
  • 2/3 cup green onions, chopped
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 tsp fresh lime juice
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Directions

  1. Soak cedar plank in water for 1 hour.
  2. Prepare the grill by heating one side to medium heat, and one side to high heat.
  3. To prepare slaw:
    1. Combine 1/2 teaspoon of salt, shredded cabbage, salad greens, onions, sour cream, and lime juice.
    2. Toss well to coat.
    3. Chill.
  4. To prepare fish:
    1. Combine chili powder, black pepper, and 1/4 teaspoon salt in a small bowl.
    2. Sprinkle chili powder mixture over fish.
  5. Place cedar plank on grill rack over high heat. Grill for 5 minutes or until lightly charred.
  6. Carefully turn plank over and move to medium heat.
  7. Place fish on charred side of plank. Cover and grill 18 minutes or until fish flakes easily when tested with a fork.
  8. Warm tortillas according to package directions.
  9. Break fish into chunks and place about 2 oz of fish on each tortilla.
  10. Top each taco with 1/4 cup slaw.
